Lunch & Learn: Whose God Rules? Abortion and Religious Freedom in America
The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health set off the abortion wars now being played out in state legislatures and courts. As abortion bans take effect, faith leaders are arguing in lawsuits across the country that these restrictions infringe on their religious beliefs. Where do religions stand on this fight? Can First Amendment advocates successfully challenge the Court? And can we have freedom of religion as well as freedom from religion?
Join us on Tuesday, February 7 (snow date: Tuesday, February 14) for our first full, in-person Lunch & Learn in three years! Registration deadline is Tuesday, January 31.
We are honored to welcome our speakers to share their perspective on this important and timely topic. The session will be led by Kimberly M. Mutcherson, Co-Dean and Professor of Law, Rutgers University.
As part of the event, we will be collecting items for After Abortion Care Kits – a small way to provide comfort and support to those seeking abortions in New Jersey.
Visit our Amazon Wish List to browse and purchase items for the After Abortion Care Kits by February 24. Remember, when checking out, be sure to choose NCJW/Essex After Abortion Care Kits’ Gift Registry as the shipping address.
